  • WTB: Dearborn Disc Harrow Series E Bearing Cap
  • Discing the deer food plots at the farm last weekend I noticed the tractor began bogging down, under extreme load. After a pass and swinging around to return I see what looks like plow furrows so I look behind at the disc and the left rear gang is frozen up, not spinning. I raise it and head back to the barn to inspect further. I find the bearing cap on the left rear outer most gang is cracked on the bottom half and the piece is gone exposing the spool but also is kicked awkwardly. With disc still raised, I tried to spin by hand but no go. Thus, I am in the market for a NOS or used bearing cap and possibly new spool too. I'd take an entire left rear gang if available instead. I contacted Scott at Sweigard Bros already but no reply yet. Can't see in this photo but will get better pix when I get back over to the farm tomorrow...

  • Here are some better pictures of the disc and parts in question. I don't know what all I need yet, but the bearing cap is broken for sure, and may need a new spool as well. I'd take an entire left rear gang if available, maybe a whole new disc as well.

  • Tim: I have a few old spools and caps. Can you get a picture or casting number off cap and I will see if any of mine match. Archie

  • I took some pictures today but only with my phone camera and no way I can upload anywhere, only send in text message...I can try that if you provide email addy, but I'm going back over to the farm tomorrow so I will remember to take my camera this time. The part number on the casting is : DMC111779 I'm going toned a torch to get it off as the original nuts and bolts are FUBAR and frozen good. I may have a worn spool too but won't know til it's all apart...might be a winter project. Thanks for reply...my email is open.
