  • Hopefully going this weekend to see a 2N. It is completely original down to all 4 tires. Tin looks perfect and always shed kept. No paint or major work ever done. has the typical patina. Guy wants 2200 canadian(about 1600 USD). Doesn't run but apparently was 2 years ago. Wish me luck !

  • thanks Tim. I have had countless N's so I'll know what I'm looking at and what I'm getting into. I am only interested in originality so yes tires and paint mean EVERYTHING on this one. I want one that has been as perfectly preserved as possible over the years. I dont want one with 14 coats of rustoleum and full of repop chinese parts, I have enough like that already. Hopefully this is the one. I also have a 1947 2N that i consider to be original paint as it was repainted red belly by the selling dealer in 1947 as per the factory bulletin.

  • It's nice to find stuff like this. Be sure you look closely at the engine, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Rubber and paint don't mean squat. Look for signs of welds, oil, and water leaks around the block and head. Often they get painted over to mask them. We have a checklist here -see LINK below on what to do BEFORE cranking over a tractor that has been setting for a few years. You'll want to check both oils for signs of water contamination too. The price is about average for a good N these days -down $1k from ten years ago. Hope it works out for you.
