Hello from Deland, FL. We have a 1947 (??) Ford 8N, with a front mounted distributor (unfortunately). She is running, however she pops-n-spits at high RPM. I have changed or tinkered with the plugs, points/condenser, put a Chinese carburetor on, plus several other parts. I feel as though she needs a little tweaking here and there, but nothing too serious. I am frustrated with her and refuse to guess and continue to throw parts at her. I am looking for a mentor (mechanic), an 8N enthusiast, who is willing to assist me, help me learn, with the goal of getting this hobby-tractor up and running. I can trailer the tractor. Have you done a compression check? It sounds like it might be a valve seat problem that shows up on higher RPM's.
