  • Jubilee live pto
  • I have a jubilee live pto conversion. I believe Dearborn made it. Does anybody know what this is worth?

  • The answer to that depends on if it is complete and functional Very few are.

  • Kenton,
    My humble opinion:
I have not seen a live PTO come up for sale recently. The last one I did see sell, sold for close to $750.00. I suppose it's really worth what someone is willing to spend.

  • The entire tractor with the live PTO accessory, or just the live PTO accessory only?

  • How well do those work Ed? I've never used one.

  • Howdy Walt! I've never used the one made for the NAA. They seem to be pretty rare. If someone was selling one, I'd tend to want to see it on the tractor and working before I plunked down any cash. I imagine that parts are about impossible to find for them.

For anyone who buys it, we do have the owner's manual in our Manuals / Parts library.

  • I have one on my NAA. It works just like it should. With the PTO engaged and the tractor in gear and moving, if you move the lever forward, the tractor will slow
    to a standstill.

The PTO will still be operating whatever is attached, without having to change the transmission to neutral to stop moving. As long as the lever is held forward, the tractor remains stationary.

To start moving again, slowly release the lever to its resting place. Treat it like a clutch because that's what it is.

By the way, mine does not have the hydraulic action that the manual indicates.

  • I always thought the lever controlled pto on and off and foot clutch stopped motion, but I've never operated one.

  • Re: Jubilee live pto
  • The NAA Live PTO option is a hydraulically actuated (by hand lever) clutch pack installed in the coupling between the transmssion and differential. Disenginging the hydraulic clutch with the hand lever will disengage the transmission from the drive wheels causing the tractor to drift to a stop but leave the transmission connected to the PTO and the PTO running. Depressing the foot clutch will cut power to the transmssion input shaft. That disconnects the engine from both the hydraulic clutch and the PTO stopping the drive wheels and the PTO as it always did.

  • The Old Hokie is right about the operation of the clutch pedal stopping the PTO
and the tractor. Again, I have no idea who made the live PTO unit on my NAA but it
does NOT have a hydraulic connection to it at all. There is an additional longer lever on the left side inspection plate, along with the lever that engages the PTO. This longer lever is the one that disengages and engages the Live PTO clutch,
causing the tractor to stop while the PTO continues to operate. That makes it a
    Live PTO.

  • You may have the Sherman Live PTO
  • James, is this more along the lines of what you have?

  • Re: Jubilee live pto
  • That is most likey the Sherman Live PTO add-on that uses a spring actuated clutch pack instead of the hydraulic actuation used on the Dearborn model 23-12. The pump for the Dearborn unit was driven off the proof meter drive on the engine mounted hydraulic pump on teh NAA and later tractors. The Sherman unit also worked on the N-series tractors and was billed as providing "live hydraulis" for the N-series in addition to "live PTO". The clutch in both designs was installed in place of the transmission to differential coupler and disconnected power flow to the differential/rear wheels without disconnecting the PTO.
