  • Hydrolic Pump Help
  • For sometime I've had to deal with two 8N's that sit and now the hydrolic pumps don't work as they did.I've removed both and put new fluids and relief valves in both and made sure the intake and exhust valves are working. Is there a way after removing the pumps to physically tell if they work and or find why they don't.Both pumps will pickup "slowly" but will not hold.I've also rebuilt both upper pistons and find no leakage."IF" these pumps have to be rebuilt I wouldn't feel so dumb if I knew what part/parts were bad. Thanks

  • The only way to really check the pumps is with them installed and use a pressure gauge hooked to the test port.

  • HiYa Charles-
If you raise the lift to the full extent in the UP position, shut off engine, and it drops, no matter if within a few minutes or a few days, you have a bad cylinder and/or pump housing. A good hydraulic system will hold a load up for weeks. Did you use the NAA-530-B piston and NAA-533-A O-Ring with the leather NAA-473-A backup washer/wiper? Did you go by the I&T F-04 Manual? System in draft control mode when reassembled? here's a little bit of help for you ... click on LINK...

  • Tim,,,yes I did use NAA B530 piston with the new neoprene O ring but this came with a plastic backup washer.Leather is best but it's what was in the pkg. There is no fluid leakage from the top so no doubt the problem is the lower pump.I see no turbulence from fluid in the rear housing. As I recall both these tractors hydraulics worked but they have sit for a long time. Thanks

  • Potential leak points. Also, a cracked pump casting is possible if you live in area where freezing temperatures are common.
