  • Limited hydraulic movement
  • The hydraulics on my 9n would go up, but not down. I read some stuff in the archives that indicated it was probably sludge at the bottom of the pump so I went ahead and pulled it for a good cleaning and reinstalled it. The pump now goes up, but will only go down about two inches. I only get action out of the touch control lever in the top third. Is this a lever/linkage issue, or a pump issue?

  • I have fixed that problem by moving the control lever till the valve started moving.

That is normal on a 9N. You only have draft control, no position control.

"but will only go down about two inches"

The valve is sticking in the pump.

  • Control valve spool issue most likely. Either the spools are sticking in the bore or, the rod is not connected to the pivot.

9N hydraulics have a control fork which connects to a 'T' on the control valve. There is no rod and no pivot on a 9N.

  • Thanks JMOR, my mistake. Reading this stuff too late at night. Maybe control valve sticking.
