  • I bought a very nice 9n to work food plots on my property and it has been doing a good job so far, discing and plowing. I would like to use it for spraying too but it is a 6 volt. I wonder if the 6 volt system will run a 12 volt sprayer? It is the type that you can either clip to the battery or use the plug in that attaches to the battery. Does anyone know if the 6 volt will run the 12 volt accessories such as this sprayer? If not, I guess it's 12 volt conversion time. Thanks.

  • I built a spray rig that mounts on the 3 point hitch. It has its own 12v battery that will power the sprayer. You can spray many gallons of spray material on a charge.Be aware that some spray motors have field magnets glued in place with a water souable glue.Dumb engineers

  • Thanks for the info on rigging a 12 volt battery. I had some concerns if it would hold a charge long enough to power a sprayer long enough. Looks like it's worth a try.

  • I was unsure if an on board 12 volt would last long enough to power the sprayer long
enough, so thanks. Looks like the way to go.

  • I had a 15 gallon tank on the spray rig.I would use a 12 boat battery For the longest spray time.I was spraying corn and small fruit trees. You can get these tanks free at any dairy farm. They use detergents to clean milking utensils.I can provide details on building the sprayer if any one is interested.

  • I've never seen a 6-volt sprayer but they may exist. You ain't gonna power a 12 volt device with 6 volts effectively. You can take a 6-volt battery and connect a 12 volt sealed beam lamp and it'll illuminate but be very dim. One of the reasons 12 volt conversions are done, but, in my opinion, if this is the only reason, not a good one. Alternatives abound. Do you have a 4-wheeler? Could use that to spray with. Do you have a neighbor with bigger equipment who might be willing to spray your land for a small fee? Just tossing out ideas -I always hate to see 12 volt conversions done for most reasons. If I wanted a 12 volt machine, I'd get something newer. Just my opinions of course...
