  • Clutch issues
  • I have a 49 8n that I just got running after sitting for 10 years. Here's my problems: when I release the clutch it's really grabby and engages entirely in the last half inch of movement. The other problem is that depressing the clutch only seems to disengage the transmission about 75% of the time. The rest of the time I just panic and stand on the brakes and curse.

  • I've been doing that for the last few days and it seems to be helping. Thanks! Don't really want to have to split the tractor.

Driving around may fix the sticking clutch but probably not. Remember you can always bring the tractor to a quick stop by turning off the ignition.

  • Release bearing sticking on input shaft housing, clutch sticking to flywheel.
Once you tear it apart to replace it, you can also change it out to Kevlar so it won't freeze in place again or just learn to block it open either with a 2X4 or "C" clamp.
