  • 19-29 Rear Loader on 9N?
  • Can anyone tell me if a Dearborn 19-29 rear loader will mount on a 9N?
I don't have a 9N, and don't know if the rear end has the mounting tabs cast into it for the upper mounting.
When did the rear mounting tabs begin showing up on the earlier Ford series tractors?
    Thanks,
    Bob

  • If you are talking about the rear end case where the 8N-486 long pin attaches your yoke tree, the 9N/2N and 8N are different. So, I think I understand your term 'tabs'. Note in picture Dels' 9N rear diffy case where the rocker tree attaches. Then note the rear diffy case on the early 8N and the 'tabs' or 'ears' outside ends that secure the 8N-486 Long Pin thru the rocker tree from good friend and NTC admin Farmer Dan when he had to replace his 1940 9N rear end several years ago and used one from an 8N. So, I suppose one could switch out rear ends like he did in order to use the 19-29 Rear Loader on an 9N. I think this is what you were going for...

  • Don't have either 19-29 or 19-65 rear loader, but looking at manuals & photos of the two added booster cylinders, I think the problem on the 9N/2N tractors will be how to support the mount for those two cylinders. Looks like they utilized the 8N "under the differential" drawbar mount to support lower end of booster cylinder bracket. Not present on 9N/2N.

  • JMOR,
I was more concerned about the upper mounting "tabs" that are cast into the 8N's and NAA's.
I didn't know if the 9N's and 2N's had those cast tabs on the rear end.
I have one for sale, and someone far away with a 9N is interested.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • All I have seen, the 9N/2N do not have those outside "tabs" that the 8N does. From the manuals, it looks like 19-29 loader does not use those, but the 19-65 does use them. I say that leaves a little uncertainty, but not a lot.

  • Not sure how to answer your initial question and not sure what you mean by 'mounting tabs'. All Dearborn equipment was primarily designed with the release of the 8N Tractor Model. The Dearborn 19-29 rear Material Loader uses two separate hydraulic cylinders and brackets attached to the rear end, and plumbed into the 8N external hydraulic port, I think, -something the 9N and 2N don't have. I do know the loader is useless without them. I had a complete assembly at one time as well as the later 19-65 Model and sold them both to the same guy, same day. I guess I've never seen one on a 9N i s the best I can answer with...
