  • Spark plug wire arcing.
  • I just finished rebuilding my 9N thanks in large part to this club and other forums. Thanks.
After start up I noticed arcing between the plug wire boots and the hex nut on the spark plug. Wires and plugs are new. Boots are tight to plug. Plugs are properly gapped. How can I cure this problem?

  • Are you using good copper conductive spark plug wires? Cheap auto type plug wires usually are junk...

  • You can try applying some silicon dielectric grease to the insides of those boots. If that doesn't help, I would replace the wires.

  • Yep. Dielectric grease did it. Thanks.

  • I've had that happen. On a John Deere. Wrong plug wires. Not sure on the 9N.
