  • 9N-14301 Ground Strap
  • Various places sell the 9N-14301 Ground Strap cable from the battery positive terminal to the tractor frame. However the ground strap they sell are only 5-1/2" long and are meant to terminate either on the back of the dash or the cross member of the hood. In the 1940's Ford Parts book, it shows the ground strap running down the side of the battery and terminating on the air cleaner mounting bolts. A 5-1/2" long ground strap will not work for this! does anyone know exactly how long (eye to eye) the original 9N-14301 ground strap was so I can have some made up? or even better, does anyone know where I can buy the proper cable? It's being installed on a 1939 9N.

  • This was discussed several years ago by Don Barkley. Buy the longer strap.

  • Joel, I had the same dilemma with the ground strap. There was just no place to make it work. Ended up using a longer strap and bolted to the air cleaner mount.

  • The two straps were identified as 5 1/2 inch and 11 inch. Eye to eye? Maybe, I don't know.
