  • 2n Seat question.
  • Good morning,

I have a 2n 1944 production tractor with the remains of the crimped on canvas pad.

Is this original, later production, aftermarket or was it a dealer option?

Secondly, Are they available or is some one restoring them?

  • Original N-Series and more used a basic steel pan seat. Dealer supplied extra equipment offered the MONROE E-Z Ride seat, and the Rest-O-Ride seat. There was also a KNOEDLER seat too. A crimped canvas pad says to me it was a padded seat cover that was added aftermarket -Ford never sold one. They are a little bit of comfort when bouncing up and down in fields all day like I was just doing discing food plots...you can get a better idea of what you have if a picture can be supplied. Not sure what you are asking but new pan seats are sold by every Ford Tractor supply house in town...

NOTE: 9N and 2N original pan seats did not have the flip-up option. This came with the 8N model but will fit your 2N anyway, See Here:

  • Re: 2n Seat question.
  • to the best of my knowledge, no ford tractors had a crimped on cover from 1939 until the thousand series came out with a covered seat. All the ones I ever saw were just the OEM Steel Seat. Others have more historical knowledge than me and I'm still willing to learn. Hope that helps, pwb

  • Thanks Bob, THen it's very likely it was replaced some time in the past. I'll probably replace it with a steel seat after I paint the machine. THe padded variety with an emblem isn't for me.
