  • Nice tractor.
    A couple of thoughts:
Interesting to see they used the side decal from a late model 3 cylinder 4000.
Also, those look like 11.2s on the rear. I had them on my 3000 for a while. With the 11.2s you'd better be darned quick on tbe clutch pedal or you'll have the tractor dig in and be sitting on the drawbar in short order. Not enough tire for the horsepower. I switched to 12.4s and they are better. Both models should have 13.6s

  • I though the decals were wrong but wasnot sure. I bought for the rear tires and rims. Tractor came with them. Big Easter eggs hole behind the starter. Cap laying there. Engine is complete. Big carb. Tractor looks good . Power steering belt is off,so it may not work.?? Steers easy. 3pt. Is gone. Know nothing of the sos. May have a boat anchor. If I was smart I should put it on down the road after removing the rims. Have a great day. I have 29 fords so I have plenty to do. Sometimes I would like to see all of them gone. We are like a landmark in our county.

  • Just use the Flywheel and Torque Limiter that is on 4000 for the SOS transmission. SoS.

  • Re: Ford 4000 torque limiter?
  • I knew about the flywheel .don't know what the torque thing is. I'm not a mechanic by any means.

  • Re: Ford 4000 torque limiter?
  • It is basically a slip clutch arrangement in place of a normal clutch disc and pressure plate. The 1955-1960 Ford Tractor Shop Manual illustrates and describes its function, as well as the procedure to test its operation. SoS.
