  • Zane "THANG"
  • All the Old Saltshere already know this, but any of you newbies may not. A hydraulic system that is not functioning properly can be EXTREMELY dangerous. I came within a hair's breadth of crippling my beloved Grandson for life. Fortunately only some missed heartbeats by me and a very serious Du%^@$$! look from Grandson. It was at that moment I decided to bite the bullet and spend the $65.00 for the "THANG". $65,000.00 couldn't have replaced his foot. Guys, do it. It's worth every penny.

  • If you have an 8N you already have the POSITION CONTROL function. That's what the little lever is under the RH seat area, but you already knew that...

PS -Better read PhotoPhucket's new policy as your pictures no longer will are allowed to be shared unless you buy into their $400 per year plan...

  • Uuuuhhhh...yeah...it was in position control...ergo the "THANG" purchase...thought the "WoeWoe The 1948 8N" would suffice even without the picture. BTW how do we get pics in now?

  • Many of us have switched over to IMGUR -SEE LINK below. They are a free service, at least for the time being. You can go to your PhotoPhucket account and download your pictures, one at a time because they have put the kibosh on people downloading their entre albums all at once now. They've been FUBAR since June, 2017. Click on a photo to open it, then do a SAVE AS to your desktop -I created a folder to store mine in. It is time consuming and they know that, doing them one at a time, and I started to but haven't done a fraction of what I saved there. I had scanned many manuals and posted them here in our Library but now they are gone and I don't know if I'll ever get them all saved and reposted again. Many of those were saved on an old HP Pavilion computer hard drive I had. The system took a power surge and fried the power supply -happened there times but now they can't find a NOS power supply and I had the hard drive pulled to attempt to reconstitute it, but it is a NO-GO with the local repair place. there are some places that would be able to retrieve it but it could be around $1K to do. I try to do a 'download album' function at PB about twice a week and still get the same message that they are aware of a glitch and are working on it. So I send them a message saying how long does it take to repair a 'glitch'? It's been three months now. Their 'team' of experts, I say, must be a group of gerbils being given daily doses of LSD and then I really let them have it. They probably have me red flagged now so I'll never be able to download my entire album in one big swoop.

  • Re: Zane "THANG"
  • It's the 8N hydraulic adjustment jig that I purchased. Wrong "THANG". Sorry about the confusion.

  • Understandable...what were you using, a mower? If so did you have an ORC attached? How much to rent out/loan me the JIG sometime???

  • I was using a boom pole swinging a 3 point hitch disc. I tried to ease it down as my grandson guided it but slight movement on the quadrant let it drop. One of the discs hit the ground next to his foot. My heart still sinks every time I think of it. You pay the postage both ways you can borrow it. BTW this is an 8N FB page I started. I would be honored if you joined.

  • Of course I'd pay shipping...that is a given, but no hurry...I'm having major surgery n two weeks and will be out of commission for about 12 weeks. No heavy lifting or overt stressing out the body as it heals. I don't go on Facebook much anymore -too many idiots, too much left political President Trump bashing, and too much dribble. I don't give a hairy rat's a$$ if you need to take your cat to the spa and get a massage today because it was up vomiting on your bed all night -share if you like stupidity... unbelievable. I am on most of the Ford Tractor sites, but like I said haven't been on in a while.

  • Maude has had one for years. Great addition makes the hydraulics more user friendly and safer. For those of you that do not know this give the 9N and 2N position control.

  • This works great, but I lost some blood because of the sharp corners on the nylon [?] blocks. took a file and rounded them off - much better!
