  • was bushhoging yesterday,checked oil,water as usual(EVERYTHING FINE) , hit large clump of wadded up grass with bushhog,oil pressure went to 0 ,I shut off asap checked oil stick 0, what happen????? replaced with 4qts oil, cranked and drove to shed, checked oil stick showed low but oil on stick, sit overnite,got up today checked oil stick 0.
    oil pump busted ???????? or WHAT

  • If you really had no oil pressure it would not have made it back to the barn. The only places the oil could disappear is in the radiator or out the exaust. I'd add oil till it is full on the stick and see if the pressure comes up. Good luck.

  • Yep, something doesn't sound right. Are you sure that was a clump of grass and not a boulder, stump, or Jimmy Hoffa??? Did you check for a hole in the oil pan? Adding 4 quarts of oil seems to me like way too much to add at one time other than at a scheduled oil change. I can see maybe a quart, or two if engine is worn and it uses a lot, but wow, man. If no holes in pan or major leaks, you can try to disconnect the line at the gauge and blow back thru and see if that helps. Next, remove drain plug and see how much oil oozes out. It's gotta go somewhere...

  • Are you saying that you have nothing showing on dipstick or just no pressure? if no oil on dipstick, you should have one heck of leak.
