  • 601 idle adjustment
  • My 601 has a 1100 rpm low throttle speed. If I push the linkage from the carb to the governor forward it will drop to 500 or so, but goes right back up when released. There wasn't a return spring on the bell crank so I added one. It looks like the rod from carb to governor needs lengthening to solve this issue. Has any one else had this issue? Thanks for your help.

  • My 601 had a similar problem. I had to clean the throttle plate where the throttle arm joins the carb. linkage. This is probably not your problem. mine was pulling the throttle all the way down. You might try the idle adjustment screw on the carb.
