  • Thank you Bruce! I did look in your 75 tips first but didnt see it in there. Out of curiosity, is there a diff in quality in the points?

  • Thank you again, Bruce! Don't normally do NAPA but it is Sunday. Had 2 dist. The one in the tractor needed rebuilt. Other was a siezed up old dist. Was going to take it apart to get a shaft turned out. By the time I gave up trying to get the drive gear rivit out the shaft was turning pretty good!! No wobble! So pulled what guts I could get out the top and cleaned it as good as possible. Stabbed it in the tractor and she hasnt run this good since I've owned her. Points need replaced but knew that going into it!!! Thanks again!!

  • Points don't need replaced if they are working.
The old points are probably better than the "NEW" points.
    Same for the condenser.

  • I have a collection of "experienced" points that can be filed and used for at least another 10 years before I will have to buy any new ones.

  • I almost always just clean my points real well and file them with a fine stone or emory cloth. Then I polish them with a strip of cardboard from a cereal box.
