  • Plow seat Bracket
  • In the spring I really enjoy Plowing the field on my 2n but to tell you the truth after about 4 or 5 hours of riding on an angle in a 7" furrow my back and my shoulder, from pushing against the fender, bother me so bad I've got to quit.
On my 23A oliver sulky plow under the seat is a lever so you can tilt the seat either way when in the furrow so that the seat is level. I realize the with a horse it's a little different but I would like to make the plowing even more enjoyable so I was thinking about making up a bracket to level the seat in the furrow.
Has anyone made one before? if so I like to see some photos.

  • If I was going to angle that seat I would make a steel
wedge wide enough to fit between the bolts holding the
spring to the lift cover. It wouldn't need to be very thick.
    My two cents.

  • HHHMMM...maybe try a Dearborn 10-14 Two-Way plow and alternate left and right? I can relate, bro. Plowing snow is even more of a strain. Constant depressing the clutch to raise and lower the blade plus shifting from forward to reverse gives your right hand and right foot a good workout. Might also consider going to a Hundred Series with live hydraulics and live power. One thing about plowing with a 2-bottom or any implement really, is to try and avoid looking back and watch ahead where you are going.

I'm not sure a two way plow won't help at a plow day event Where tractors are one right after another. It would be like going down a one way road the wrong way with tractors coming at you.
Up on our deer hunting I plow with the 4000 cause we're usually fighting weather and time so we basically have to get the field ready to plan in a short period of time.
Plowing with the 9n/2n is just a pleasure to plow. The draft working properly and the smell of freshly turned soil. you can't beat it.
