  • 860 Correct Oil Filter
  • I purchased a Ford 860 a while back and started my ownership by replacing all the fluids and filters. Strange thing happened, I took the oil filter to my local NAPA dealer and he gave me a replacement., EXCEPT the filter was smaller than the original by about 1/2 diameter. I had thrown the old one away since it had froze on and I had to use a screw driver through the canister to get enough leverage to get the dang thing off. The new spin on filter sealed fine and I only ran it less than an hour. The oil pressure was fine too. BUT I would like to replace the filter because I know its not correct because of the size.

What oil filter do you recommend. Manufacturer and model number please.

    Thanks

  • Some years ago I purchased a new 1976 Chrysler. It used that smaller filter which mounted on the same base as a FL-1. Never liked it but never had any trouble with it.

  • Spin on filters, Fram PH8A, Motorcraft FL1A are just a couple. Cross reference to what you prefer.
