  • I doubt I'm any help but I use a (?)middle buster to do this and for a small plot it does well. All I need is to get the row opened up and then just pickum up.

  • Yea, I had a potato digger around here for years.

Then she got married and moved out. ;)

Seeing if I can get the grand kids to take over though!

  • HiYa Paul-
I don't see any potato planters listed in my FORD/DEARBORN book, but then it isn't complete either. In John Farnsworth's' book, "FERGUSON IMPLEMENTS & ACCESSORIES" he does show several Ferguson models. These were originally supplied for the TE Model:

P-PE-B20, PPE-20 - Potato Planter, Non Chitted Seed

    P-PE-C20, PPE-A20 - Potato Planter, Chitted Seed

P-RE-20 - Potato Planter Fertiliser Attachment

    D-HE-20 - Potato Spinner

There is also an excellent DVD out by Old Pond Publishing/Diamond Farms of the late Harold Beer from Ireland on his farm demonstrating the latter planter that requires human interfacing. Harold has his daughter and her friend sitting on the rear of the planter feeding potato buds from the hopper into the ground. I'll keep digging for anything by Ford. It is said there were over 400 implements made for the 8N and beyond.
