  • Old Fords and more modern tractors
  • I joined the ranks of tractor owners that have both older Fords and a more modern tractor. I picked up a well used 2006 Kubota B3030 and used it last winter and retired my 860 from winter snow duty. While the 860 worked, I have to say the comforts of a cab, front snowblower, and hydrostatic transmission were easy to get used to. The 860 is a keeper though, and I want to clean it up now that it will be semi-retired. I treated the 860 to new front tires this spring.

  • Those are nice units but the price differential is key to many of us here. Here in FL some opt for the comforts of a cab with A/C, like my 92 year old neighbor that just traded his FarmTrac for a Deere and cab with the A/C comforts of home, and another that traded his Polaris 4-wheeler for a new Kubby one with a cab, diesel, A/C and all the options. The Deere was in the high $30's and the Kubby 4-wheeler the high $20's.

  • Gaspump I hear you on the price of a Kubota. The only reason I ended up with this one is as I noted it is well worn, and the price was far below what they normally go for. It functions, just does not look as pretty as most. My wonderful wife was actually the one pushing me to look for a cab tractor for wintertime! I still love the old Ford, and now I hope to pretty it up since it won't be worked as much. They each have their place, the old iron is heavier and better with the ground engaging implements.

  • B3030 is a can't miss. Mine is 2005. I still love my N's but this little guy does a lot of work and sips the fuel
