  • 6V replacement on the 8N
  • Time to replace the battery again. This one lasted 6 years, not bad for a 6V from Autozone.

  • That's pretty good for an AutoZone battery. DURALAST is their brand name and made by Johnson Controls. The last one I dealt with from them was junk however. My buddy bought a 12V model from them to put in his 1984 Massey and it didn't last one year. I have been using INTERSTATE GP-1 AG style 6V batteries in my N's for many tears now and have gotten at least 5 years life out of them. I expect to get maybe double that now since I invested in a Battery Tender for my working 8N battery. Discharging and recharging is the greatest toll a battery takes and diminishes its life expectancy greatly. Other good brands are DEKA and EXIDE.

  • I have an Exide 6v on the 860 right now(installed 2016), but the genny isn't working so I keep a tender on that one.

Both of my trucks have had Duralast batteries for the majority of their lives. I've had 5-6 year performance with few exceptions, but the 6-volt surprised me.

Around here, its the heat that always gets my truck batteries.
