  • Got the 8-N running good. The new issue I am having is at full throttle the governor kicks the throttle linkage back down to idle. It will run good at low throttle up to about mid throttle and at full throttle it gets kicked back down to low again.

  • How wore is the ball in the throttle lever, also the plate the ball rides on wears, but installing a compensating spring solved my problem. mine was missing entirely. One end fastens to a tab under a bolt on the bell housing and the other end fastens to a tab on the bottom of the throttle rod where the rod that goes to the gov hooks.

  • It's unlikely that you have a governor problem. See tip # 14.

Do you have the governor compensating spring in place?

  • The spring is in place. Low to mid throttle works fine full throttle it appears the governor is physically kicking the throttle lever back down to its minimum position
