  • remove hi/lo gear box
  • I have three of the four bolts that hold it in.
What should be ready for when I take the last bolt out? My steering has some play in it. Should I remove it to get to the Sherman better?
Will I have to disassemble it to get the play out.(the steering box.)
I have a noise in the trans. If the Sherman is OK it may be for sell. I'm
not sure I will put it back.

    Thanks
    Avery

  • You will need an input shaft and housing to replace the Sherman. Noisy transmission may have been caused by not putting the correct number/size shims between the Sherman and transmission. If the preload isn't right it will still be noisy, with Sherman or straight input shaft.

  • aI've got the Sherman out. I don't see anything wrong with it. I haven't
checked the insides but it appears to be OK. I would like to sell/trade
for the input shaft and housing. Of course the condition of the tranny
would effect transaction. I don't think I want the tranny back in my tractor.
Just checking to see if their any options out there.
