  • Just8Ns---Flooded Out?
  • I've been trying to get thru to Just8Ns now for several days and the phone just rings and rings. I had an old number with an 888 prefix so I tried the 704 number on their web site and same thing. the 888 number must still be good as I just talked with Derek and Mandy a few weeks ago from it. Both must be land lines so if the hurricane/flooding got to Shelby, shouldn't have had a ringing if liens were down. Maybe their closed due to the flooding so that's why no answer. Hope all is OK with them...

  • All Is Well
  • I talked with Derek today and all is fine in Shelby, NC. They got soaked with rain but no flooding or power loss.

  • Old memories flooded in with this discussion. There is a fantastic resturant on Lake Wylie just across state line in SC that served great steaks and my favorite meal there was a crab stuffed flounder. M-m-m-m-m-m! Memory not so good on remembering the name of the resturant. Anyone here know it?

  • Agree, nice place on Lake Wylie. Had the pleasure of treating a host of folks for dinner there after our son's wedding rehearsal. Yes Just 8N's location doesn't seem to me in any major flood peril. My relatives are in Boone, Concord, Davidson and Monroe. Some bridges flooded out in the Monroe area, rain in Concord and a bridge flooded near Mt Pleasant not much I know of otherwise in that country. Hurricanes are serious business, always need warnings. We have been hit hard both a year ago and two years ago. Heck of a lot of cleanup after both, I had many thousands of dollars damage from them, no power for 6 and 5 days after. Gas and groceries real scarce for at least the first three days and we got off easy as compared to the folks up north in the Carolinas!

  • Shelby is about 45 miles West of Charlotte. Google maps does not show any main stream or close river. Still, could be having some problem with the lingering storm impact.
Looking at Google Earth ground level, I can't imagine that they are flooded.
I had occassion to visit their store when I was spending time in Gastonia and later in Charleston, SC. Had to fly through Charlotte so I did a "long" layover. Heh heh!

  • Yes, I too looked at a map and so I am assuming it is only just the telephone lines are down. GOOGLE EARTH does not give you a real time picture, but is okay for looking a the terrain. I use it all the time for scouting deer patterns around here and up north. The aerial view of the landscape gives you so much more perspective on how they use the cover to their advantage.
