  • Trailer length recommendations?
  • Time to bite the bullet and buy a (road worthy) trailer so that I can show her and her sister off at shows. I've been debating between closed and open trailers and I'm thinking that ultimately I'll want to have both, especially if we go on long road trips. But for now, I can only afford one, and need a trailer for hauling hay. I found a leftover 2018 20' open equipment trailer. The price is right, but my questions is, will two 9n's without implements fit ok on a 20-footer, or is that cutting it too close? Yes, I understand the 9n is under 10' long, but was looking for some real-world experience from someone who's using a trailer with a true 20' deck (no beavertail) and has dealt with loading and binding them on this relatively short deck. I could go for a 22' deck but I just spent the extra money that it would have cost on another N.... Suggestions?

  • How about zero?
When I got rid of my big trailer, all the offers to "let" me come do tractor work went away. When I got rid of my truck, all the offers to come help on moving-day went away. When I want to take my tractor to a show, the round-trip charge for a rollback are not cheap, but still a lot less than owning a truck and trailer. The local towing company knows where I live. They went and got the last tractor I bought, and I didn't even need to be there.

  • I haul 2 N's on a 20 ft trailer when going to pulls. I drive the first one on and back the second one on which makes for a good balance of the load.

  • I have a 20 foot Big Tex with their Mega Ramps. The ramps make the deck flat when folded fully up all the way. They can also be locked in a fully vertical position as well so wheeled equipment can use the full 20 feet length. Here is my 860 loaded on the trailer.

  • I have loaded 2 Ns on a 16' 10,000 gvw trailer with a 2' beavertail. I backed both tractors onto the trailer. This allowed the rear tires to slightly hang over the front of the deck.
There was no problem chaining them down properly. A true 20' should be great.
I also have a 24' 10,000 gvw enclosed trailer. It can handle 2 tractors easily but not worth a crap for hauling hay.
Figure out your real priorities and go from there.

  • I have a tandem axle 16'trailer that I hauled my 8n on with a 5'disc attached no problems as far as trailering these
