  • need info on paint colors
  • I need to know the closest color match for the rear rims on our naa, I know it is called cadmium or something like that. My rims are in good shape and original color but need touched up.After 3 or 4 years of not having my sheet metal done and put back on (tractor was working in the nude hehehe) I finally found time to finish it up and shoot it.Every thing is coming out real nice so I want to touch up or even repaint them while I have everything off and tractor disassembled.I'm hoping to totally finish every thing before weather turn cold. Thanks and God Bless, Beth and Allen

  • Original FORD Hat Rims were zinc plated. Cadmium was a silver-blue plating. Many fellas use a metallic or aluminum shade of paint and I did too at one time until I found out after two years it dulls and will rub off with your thumb. It was then I discovered a special wheel paint sold by IH/CASE called SILVER ARGENT. I did two sets of hat rims with it and it has held up well after 10 years.

  • Thanks Tim, I'll see if I can find that. I already knew I didn't want to use aluminum paint for the very reason you stated.I'm Hoping I can find it in a rattle can or touch up, my rims are in good shape but have a few spots where they got scraped, I'm hoping I don't have to repaint the whole rims but I will if I must. The paint job on the sheet metal and the red belly is looking good so I don't want to do a 1/2 rectum job now. Thanks And God Bless, Beth and Allen.

  • The brand is IRON GARD, the paint is "SILVER/ARGENT", a special wheel paint, and the p/n is B17567N. It has the CASE/IH logo but is all part of the CNH/FIAT group and sold at all CNH dealers at about $70 a gallon. Pints and rattle cans available as well. Check your local CNH dealer. They can't send paint by mail, at least I don't think so. The USPS has that huge sign of what not send my mail and paint is one of them.

  • I used RustOleum Hammered Paint, Silver. I think it looks correct and Maude has not been arrested yet LOL.

  • Since the old tractor has been working nude (no sheet metal) for the past 3 or 4 years I think I now know why my wife likes the song "She thinks my tractors sexy" LOL. But all good thing must come to an end. God Bless, Beth and Allen.

  • The original outer rims were cad-plated. The wheel centers were painted the same color as the hood. Just about any silver/metallic paint will be a decent color match but not nearly as durable as plating. I've found the primer/paint finish works ok if I don't get carried away with thick coats. Wheels get a lot of abuse and thick coats chip much easier.
