  • Cast iron distributor update
  • Finally got my hands on one. They do exist although apparently rare. I'll have to run it through my ultra sonic cleaner and soak it in white vinegar to clean it up. Right now I can't see any casting or part numbers on it. I think this would have been early '39 but have no way to prove that.

  • Iíve had a few of the cast housings. Found them on different year models. Not sure what the original tractor years they came from.

  • I found this old post in the archives from Don Barkley on the cast iron distributors. He says they were released in 1941. I'm spitballin' here, but I'd assume anything made from aluminum was either changed to steel or cast iron during the war restriction years. Aluminum would be a valuable metal needed for airplane manufacturing and a bit more involved in making than steel and iron. Based on this, it appears the cast iron units would not have been first used on early 9N's.

  • Thanks Tim. I pretty sure now that I need a better search engine and a set of the parts drawings. ;-)
