  • 9N10000-B Generator Armature.
  • Does anyone know where I might be find a used armature for a 9N10000-B generator?
The threaded pulley and the rest of the Generator is good.

  • Thanks everyone for your help. My local generator-starter shop will send the armature to another source for repair. With so few of these generators still around we need to bring back what we can. I also have a original cut-out with the Ford logo. I do not have a use for these right now but maybe someday.

  • I have a can of OEM brushes for the 9N-A and the 9N-B generators. If you need a set I can send a set to you. I would also be interested in buying the B generator as is now and I will rework the unit at my buddy's shop. My Email is open.

  • Del-
I have a buddy with his own starter/alternator shop, also is Ford Tractor owner an has rebuilt many starters and generators for me, including my 9N-A and 9N-B generators. Do you have an OEM armature now or are just needing to one? If you have the OEM unit, it can restored and used over agin and again. You have my email addy.

  • Only realistic hope you have is a shop which does armature and field coil rewinding. It is not going to be cheap. CHeck for a source locally, on line or Hemmings. Good luck.

If you decide to replace the generator you will be able to sell the core to a vendor or someone doing a 100 point restoration for more than the cost of a new generator.

I've been able to find shops that will rebuild very rare electrical components, 1920s Northeast and Delco starter generators, five wire Delco regulators.

Point is any electrical component can be rebuilt given enough research and money.

  • The early 9N-10000-A and 9N-10000-B generators are rare as hens teeth to find let alone just the armature. That being said, it took me ten years but I eventually found three 'A' units and three 'B' units as well as a repop 9N-10505-A Voltage Regulator. Thus I've adopted the mantra, "Never Say Never". One reason, my own personal theory, why we can't find many of these parts is that when they were replaced or discarded, as WWII broke out and the US became involved, the US War Board then imposed restrictions on manufacturing which included recycling old materials, mainly materials like aluminum, magnesium, steel, copper, brass, and iron for war ordnance. The dealerships and repair shops who had old starters, generators, blocks, and other parts lying around sent them all to be smelted down and the metals reused. Nobody had the hindsight back then to consider that 75-80 years from then folks would be looking to restore a vehicle from that era and would be needing those parts. In addition, it is possible some of these parts are still sitting on a shelf somewhere but no ones knows what they are or what units they went to. Good luck in your search, and let us know if you find one.
