  • 8n fenders
  • I have an 8n 1952,so I am told. The fenders have the flange where I bolt the fender to the tractor on the inside facing the seat. Is this the normal way. The fenders have the ford script on them. Thanks

  • Claire-
Kirk(NJ) I believe hit it the nail on the head. Here is a LINK to our MANUALAS forum/LOADERS category. Go to PAGE 6 and observe the pictures. There are additional brackets attached to the fenders that face in towards the seat. The fenders attach to them. If you have these, but don't have the loader, and they are an obstruction, simply remove them and maybe sell them if you don't need or want them. Somebody may need them.

  • Possibly you have an old dearborn loader bracket attached to the fender bracket? Post a photo or hit the manual section under loaders and see if anything matches up.

  • As I recall, the flange that "...bolts to the tractor..." faces the Wheels... not the seat... no inward facing flanges.... The script faces the seat, or inward. Your question is a bit puzzling...

  • that is what I see on all the tractors that I look at,the flanges face the wheels. Mine face the seat.each flange has a loop on top of flange like a 1 inch pipe could go thru them. the script faces the seat also

  • Sounds like some modification has taken place.... something done to make something Else fit... pictures would be helpful... Perhaps a different set of fenders :-)

  • Are you missing fenders? A 1952 8N would have the angle (side) mount distributor amongst other changes, like the Proofmeter. However many N's have had parts swapped in and out over the years. Ford N's used hex head fender bolts up thru the early 8N then switched to carriage bolts. The fenders and axle bosses then changed to accept the square shoulder of the carriage bolt. Scripted fenders would have a square bolt hole. The fenders mount as you describe - and also see diagram from MPC. Really don't seen any other way they can mount do you? best to get the essential manuals, 39-53 MPC and F-04 manual are critical. We have the 1949 MPC, the only 8N manual for free download in our MANUIALS forum. the I&T F-04 Manual is an old version and not much in it. OEM Carriage Bolts listed as p/n 35310-S, a special 5/8-18 x 6.12 carriage bolt. They are fine thread a not made in the industry any more, but Dennis Carpenter repops the originals so you can get them there or Just8Ns.com The p/n is 355310-KIT and has 4 bolts, 4 hex nuts, and 4 lockwashers for $25.
