  • As I got ready to work on the tractor I notice this part is worn all the way through to the pin; as you can see in the photo. I don't know the name of this part. Is it available? If not, can a welding shop do a repair on it? Hopefully I might could find a used one on flea bay. It appears to be that it is ready to fail. What could have caused that to worn away like it did?

  • OK, I learned that this is the control yoke. I would like to get the lift working in both the position control and the draft control. I also heard that removing the yoke can be a real PITA. What about the plate at the diff housing? Since I am going to be working on the lift anyway. Also, I heard something about a Zane Sherman adjusting jig.

  • I have a good used one on eBay right now. If you PM me i'll send you a link. Not sure if I'm allowed to link ebay listings to a post

  • Looks like it's been painted, if so it's been that way for a while.
Maybe ground off for clearance. ??

If I didn't have anything to do, I'd fix it, but it'd be close to the bottom of the list.

  • Yes, Dad painted the tractor many many moons ago. I am guessing he didn't think it was an issue at the time.

I have a greater need, I need the control arm for the pump, part 504; I posted an advert in the ads forum.

  • I foggily remember taking mine off and replacing it with a two holer - threw the three holer in the pile somewhere.

If it bothers you I could look mine up and send you a pic of it if sprucing that thing up is on your bucket list.

I heeded the shorter one to provide clearance for the Knoedler seat.

  • I think you talking about the other thing. This is the thing that connects to the spring. If you look in the photo, it is worn through to the point you can see the pin.

  • Considering there is not much left on either side I didn't know if it failing could be an issue or not. I came across a video on YouTube that mentioned if you have lift issues to inspect the plate at the diff housing. Do I need to inspect and replace that plate?

  • I saw one on flea bay; worn the same although not as bad. Then a guy is selling the lift cover and the cover is shown on the tractor and it is worn the same. I am guessing this is a common wear issue on the tractor.

  • It wore that way because PO used wrong top link or a well worn top link for a lot of hours. If it were mine, I would follow the rule, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". It will likely last a lifetime as is.
