  • Tire Ballast
  • Hate the thought of using cacl but thought I'd ask if anyone recommends an alternative ballast.

  • Water, or a derivative, is 8.35 pounds per gallon.
CaCl is about 12.5 pounds per gallon.
    Cast iron is another option.
A 3 PT hook up with a 55 gal drum filled with water and a drain spigot is about 450 pounds.

  • How much d0 y0u want to spend? Beet juice costs most, anti freeze, waste antifreeze, windshield washer fluid down South? Take your pick. I use waste anti freeze and have for years.

  • I don't have fluid in the tyres of the Old Girl. I would probably go with antifreeze; maybe check with some of the shops around here. How much fluid should one put in the tyres? How does one go about putting the fluid in the tyres?

  • Automotive/truck/machinery shops seldom put old anti-freeze back, so they need to dispose of the used stuff. It loses its anti-corrosive properties over time.
