  • Cage Nuts
  • I lost a 7/16-20 cage nut off the inside of a front 861 fender. Having a Dickens of a time finding a new one. Grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

  • Dennis Carpenter sells the bolt kit that apparently works for all models thru 1964.
If the cage is gone, making a new one of those from scrap sheetmetal is an easy job. Tack welding and refinishing the fender is a lot of work. I've replaced stripped or rotten square hardware by drilling and tapping a hole near the corner off a piece of plate thick enough to match, then sawing the corner off. Finish shaping it on the grinder and nobody will know it wasn't original.

  • I know nothing about this outfit but they list a 7/16 - 14 Gage Nut.

Wonder if a person might be able to use the cage and insert a 7/16 - 20 square nut.

Nearest thing I've found so far.

  • Thanks, Jack. I appreciate your quick reply. Btw, here's a picture of the 861 partially reassembled with the spin out wheels. I had the bad sections on the wheels cut out and replaced with sections of another rim I had. Its taken longer than I hoped, but I'm in the process of reinstalling the sheet metal and should finish soon.

  • Nice! I wish the Old Girl looked as purdy as your tractor.

  • That's going to be a nice tractor. Looks like a 5 speed. The 5 speed is much better than the 4 speed.
