  • Stupid Me
  • I placed an order with Just8Ns for a few things and forgot to order a cam follower pin. I can't proceed with the repair until I get one. I read where someone pressed one out, turned it around and pressed the worn end into the hole. However, mine is worn rather badly. Not sure how much force is on cam follower pin. It will be Monday before I can talk with someone at Just8Ns. Stupid me.

  • The Pin is Repaired
  • I took it over to my BIL and we used his shop press to make easy work of this. I really need to see about getting a shop press of some kind. It is a 20 minute drive one way over to my BIL and it only took us a few minutes to press the pin out, reverse it (we decided on reversing the pin), and press it back in place. See the images.

Now to finish this job up; it has taken way too long.

  • Just head on down to your local Ace Hardware, Lowes or similar store. It is just a common dowel pin and no rare N part. Get one 1/8 or 1/4" longer for extra wear area.

  • Re: Stupid Me
  • It isn't a harden pin? Well, I guess if it was harden it wouldn't have worn like it did over the years.

  • Don't turn it end for end. Rotate it. Still have to press it out and back in, just 180 degrees from current orientation.

  • Re: Stupid Me
  • So you are saying to keep the worn side out but just rotate the pin so that the worn side faces in the opposite direction.

  • Understood. Plan is to take to BIL; he has a shop press that is better than me heating and trying to tap it out with a punch.

  • Maybe not that bad
  • Maybe I can press it out, turn it around, and press it back in like someone else did I read somewhere. What do you guys think? I will have to head over to my BIL tomorrow as I don't have a press. I hate to wait several more days before I can start to put the lift back together. Monday to order, then two days for the order to come in.

  • I hope my 860 looks that good! Intend being in it next week unless I get rained out.
