  • Top Link Play Question.
  • I don't want to get into scope creep but also want to tackle anything that could affect the draft control working or not working. Here is a video showing the play in the top link. Is that amount of play OK? If it doesn't affect the draft control operating properly, then I wouldn't bother with it at this time but tackle it at a later date. I am ready to put things back together; today I cleaned up the sump and top cover.

  • If you can get the pin out you could install some bushings. I don't think I could remove the pin from either of my 8n.s. froze solid. Not sure how much that would affect the draft control. By the time you get the big spring adjusted it may take a lot of that slop out. That said I never have my machines in draft control mode since I don't have or need a plow.

  • I did do some light tapping and it didn't seem to move. I do want draft control working if possible; I have been ploughing by keeping one hand on the control lever so if the tractor starts to bog I can lift the plough. It would be nice if the lift can do this for me.

  • I would pull the pin and add bushings as that excessive olay would cause eratic operation of draft sensitivity.

  • If you get the pin out, I would just replace the rocker with a new one rather than trying to bush it.

  • I was thinking that today; it appears to be worn out of round anyways.

I took a wood block and a good 2 pound hammer and tapped on one side for a bit, then the other side for a bit and then the other side for a bit. I do have it moving a tad either way so some PB Blaster or equivalent will probably have it out. I need to address the stripped threads on the running boards where they bolt to the side cover first.

  • Try PB blaster on frozen pin fitst. Next choice heat casting over pin. I did it withacetlyne, but did not go to cherry red for fear of cracking.
