  • Very weak hydraulic lift ford naa golden jubilee
  • Hello everyone!

I suspect a faulty pressure relief valve in the hydraulics of my jubilee. Can anyone telll me what the round plug (about 3 inches below the hydraulic cover, aligned with the seat, right hand side) is used for? I unscrewed this round half sphere plug from the fitting and I see the tip of what looks like a relief valve sticking out? Does anyone know what this is? Is this the relief valve?

    Thanks,

    Francois

  • That is the unloader valve. Put the nut back on and leave it alone until you understand how it works and what it does. The over pressure relief valve is in the bottom of the center section case. You have to split the tractor to service it. The most common cause of weak lift is worn pump or leaking lift cylinder. You need to read the shop manual and understand the operation of the 3pt lift system if you are going to work on it.

  • Thanks for your reply TOH!

My pumpis also running a log loader trailer through a hydraulic outlet, and is working ok but does “screech” once in awhile when heavy lifting. I would think the log loader is as demanding as lifting an implement, so I would conclude like you that it is either the cylinder or the relief valve. Do you think the relief valve could be accessible through the hydraulic cover as well if I took it off while looking at the cylinder?

    Thank you for your response,

    Francois

  • The relief valve will be ahead of the the hydraulic outlet. The "screeching" is usually the sound produced by a relief valve at over pressure conditions. If you have good pressure at the hydraulic outlet but not at the 3pt I would suspect the 3pt lift cylinder or plumbing is leaking/bypassing.
