  • positive grnd cable
  • @ ser# 9n12500 the starter button changed location from the dash to the transmission top cover. Was the positive ground cable then attached to one of the aluminum dash/hood bolts or to a more substantial area around the battery support less prone to breakage?

  • Look at page 33. When a part was changed, often it affected other parts as well. Starter switch moving required a new wiring harness. Dash lamp elimination too required new wiring.

  • Checked page 33, that is the direction I'm taking. the 6" cable is what I always see advertised for a replacement for that year/ser. range.

  • MPC's list the same ground strap for 39-47; 9N-14301 at 5-1/2" -see LINK below. The 6" 9N-14300 battery cable is to starter. Moving the pushbutton starter switch from dash to shifter cover had no affect on battery cables.

  • thanks for the pic, the connection to the dash/hood bolt just didn't make sense. An 11" ground strap (measured tip to tip) was to short to reach the + terminal of the battery to the tool box bolt. A 5/16" hole located just above where the wiring harness passes into the gauge area fits the cable length quite well and is what I will use.
