  • Spacer between lower crank pulley and frame
  • I have a 1948 8N that had a bucket loader on it, it had a front hydro pump, the loader and pump have been removed. There is a spacer or shield on lower pulley between pulley and front frame. If I break the belt I don't know how I would change it as there is no way to get a belt onto lower pulley. Is there a way to remove that shield or is that part of the lower pulley. Thanks for any help.

  • I recently had the same problem on an 8N I bought. The belt was removed & the tractor had not run in several years. I ended up jacking it up after removing the front bolster bolts. The good news is that, because I had to do this I discovered there were only 2 bolts instead of the 6 required! I removed the spacer & put the bolster back on.
It really wasn't a terrible job as I could jack up the engine (& tractor) w/out taking anything else loose.

  • I should have mentioned - What you have is probably the front pump drive. The one I took off has a spline drive center.

  • Thanks for the information, I know when I took the pump off the front there was a splined shaft I took out and didn't look good between the frame and the pulley. The belt looks good but in case I have to change or replace if it breaks I know what I will have to do.
