  • Yesterday I drained out fluid. Ran tractor with mower for 30 minutes to warm it up. Bought 2X 5 gallon buckets of Shell Rotella HD Tractor Transmission & Hydraulic Fluid. I lowered lift arms when I drained it like the manual says. When I put it in at exactly 5 gallons it started coming out the filler lever hole on the side. Thought that was odd it says in the manual it takes 24.6 Quarts or around 6.2 gallons. I had put the old in a 6 gallon bucket and it did not fill it up. Wonder where the other 1.2 gallons are? I had bought 2 of the 5 gallon buckets so I can do the transmision also next week It is supposed to take 13.8 Quarts or 3.2 Gallons. Figured I'd buy 10 gallons. I hope there is not 1.2 gallons of the old still hiding in there somewhere. It was pretty funky looking. Lift had worked ok but was a little slow in the winter.

  • Probably didn't remove all three drain plugs?

  • With the 8N yes there are 3. The 3000 has 3 also but are separate. I did just like the manual says. Not sure why it only took 5 Gallons. That is all that there was in it though when I drained it and it was full right to the level plug on the side.

  • Guess it wouldn't hurt if I would read the title!
