  • Steering wheel replacement
  • I just got burned on a steering wheel I bought off EBay, I bought a "Keyed" steering wheel and mine is "Splinted"
I didn't know there were 2 different types?, When did Ford change them?

  • Dave...I've got to ask. How did you get the old hub off? I have been working with a steering wheel for quite a while with no luck removing it. I have been working with PB Blaster, hammers and puller. No luck

  • Puller and lots of heat and it messed up the rubber washer/seal under the hub.

  • I recently bought a replacement steering wheel from the clearance rack in TSC marked $4. I couldn't pass it up. It was a keyed version, so I thought it would work on my 2N. As usual, it required modification. The inside diameter of the taper was too small. I had to work it over with a rat tail file before it would slide on far enough to tighten the nut.

  • More often than that Dan. Early 9N had 4-spoke steering wheel keyed. Changed to 3 spoke keyed at some point. I have an OEM 8N wheel if you need Dave...
