  • I've got about the same thing here Jeff. Throw out bearing froze up. I bought this tractor not running. It wore most of the fingers off.

Here's the new one for comparison.

  • Definitely looks familiar. Don't know if I can find any donor parts, but if I do I'll see if I can save the old clutch & use it(assuming the plates have something left).

  • That had to be making lots of noise! What do you plan to do?

  • On second thought, I'm at least going to look at finding donor parts to save the old set. Not sure how much wear is actually on the disks, too bad I can't ask Buster when he replaced it(or if he did).

  • Surprisingly very little noise, but I could hear what is clear now....metal on metal. I will put a new clutch set in it & new release bearing for sure. The bearing came off the carrier pretty easily, so I may be replacing it too. :-(

  • Seems to me you have a throw out bearing problem.

  • The issue is now bigger than just the throw-out bearing!

  • Re: 860 clutch pics
  • Very true, but I would bet it was caused by a frozen throw out bearing.

  • It was frozen tight. Ground through the fingers & spun on the carrier.
