  • When changing fluid, I read 'start at rear drain plug and move forward'. Being a common sump design, isn't all ~5 gallons gonna come out rear end anyway? Don't have anything to catch all ~5 gals at once and wanna avoid all over shop floor switching out drain pans, etc.
    Also, I bought 5 gals VP J20A ultra plus utility tractor fluid $20 at TSC. Looks like it meets Ford M2C-134C requirements. See alot of people have opinions, Tractor gets light use and I live in hot climate, no cold weather.

  • So ummm...
    Get two 5 gal pails and switch them when the first one gets half or 2/3 full. Yeah, you'll dribble a bit when you push the empty one under the flow but if you're prepared and quick about it it won't be more than a tablespoon or so.
    Half full pails are easier to lift, cary and dump at the recycling center too.

  • The best reason I know of to start at the dif plug is that plug is only about a 1" hole. It dumps a lot slower than letting one of those two forward plugs get away from you.

  • As far as that fluid goes, the label says "recommended for...". Nothing on that label says it "MEETS" 134D spec. The manufacturer apparently "recommends" it as a replacement fluid. It's probably ok, but I would do a lot more research rather than just going by what some marketing folks decided to put on the container.

  • J20A and M2C134 are two entirely different oils. J20C and M2C134 are roughly equivalent.
