  • Hey, That looks like a plain old GM 6 cyl head, used in GM trucks and cars up until 1963.

  • What is interesting to me is the Canted Valve and port arrangement on a non crossflow head. I can't see if there are pushrod holes in head. The long Valve stems could indicate an Overhead Cam. The only 6 cylinder overhead Cam engines I can think of with exception of Import engines, are the Pontiac OHC head used on Chevy 6 hole block and the Kaiser/Jeep "Tornado" OHC 6 hole motor that was based on a Continental Red Seal block. Slant 6 Chrysler maybe? Very interesting indeed.....SoS.

  • Uncle Russ had an engine block hanging off the front of his tractor. Helped keep the front end on the ground.

  • This tractor is listed for sale; that is where I saw the photo.

  • I understand the front weight. I was backing downhill with a raised disc harrow with my 8n. When I touched the brakes, the front raised up and the tractor spun around before I knew what was happening.

  • I'd say the owner needed some ballast and farmerized what was handy...not necessarily for a grille guard, but it does serve a dual purpose.

  • That's called "Peace through superior firepower".
It's the rare model bumper called "Intimidation".

  • That's one way to make an 8N an overhead valve tractor!
