  • 8N Block Heater
  • Other than the magnetic heaters, can you recommend a block heater for the side distributor 8N? Thanks.

  • I have a side mount dist on my 50 8-n and like Del Huebner I have the in hose heater. Works great for me and have had it on for over 20 years with no issues.

  • Do you have the same heater Del linked to? Prior to posting, I had gone to a parts store for a new hose and a heater. The heater they had possibly could have gone right next to the pump, but it was too long to put anywhere else in the hose. Is yours mounted up against the pump? I was thinking that putting it high up in the hose probably was not such a good idea, but if yours is next to the pump I am willing to give it a try.

  • Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I only saw it today. Yes I have the same one as Del linked to. I just went out and looked at mine, It is on the lower hose immediately next to the radiator. It has just a long enough piece of hose to connect the heater to the stem on the radiator with clamps. Both connections on either side of the heater itself is on a straight piece of hose.

  • This is the heater I use in my 8N. The 600 watt one and mine has been in for over 20 years and still works great. Made In America!!!

  • Del,

Do you have a front mount or a side mount distributor? They take different hoses, and after looking at my hose I do not think I have a straight enough section to cut a portion out of. Mine is a side mount.

  • Mine is a front mount so maybe there is a difference. Maybe someone with a side mount could help out.

  • I just lay a 100watt light bulb on the head. Works for my 9N so I'm sure it will work for other engines.

  • Thanks Dan. I have a magnetic heater I do that with, but the tractor has a DuAl loader on it, and it gets to be a PITA snaking around the arms. I was hoping to find something that would have a cord hanging out of it and could be left in place.
