  • Gardening with Fords and Dearborn Implements - 2019
  • I documented using my 1949 8N and Jubilee with various Dearborn implements during the 2019 garden season. It was great fun and therapy to actually use the various tools. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Enjoy.

  • Outstanding! Now that's what you're supposed to do with an N! Rotary Hoe, Planters, Cultivator w/Seeder - I had a whole line of Dearborn Equipment including 16 plows, Discs, Wagon, Grain Drill, and more. I still have a downsized set of equipment for my 8N. When I take it to shows I always attach a piece of equipment so folks can see how and what they were used for. Most city folk will simply walk by the tractors - if you see one you've seen them all - but with an implement they'll see how farming was done way back and the old timers know and remember using them and smile.

  • I'm jealous that you still get seat time. You should have bought one of my TransMix cement mixers so you could pour some nice decorative curbing around your garden plot! ;)

  • Good to hear from you Jim. If you look carefully in the photos of the 8N with the disk, you will notice my neighbor to the east poured a ribbon of concrete curbing the full length of our shared boundary. It provides a delineation between his future lawn and my field. That said, Iím not a fan of concrete curbing for several reasons: cost, durability and visual quality (as in too much installation overpowers other landscape features.

  • You have a fantastic gathering of machines! Much of it reminds me of my years growing up with our 8N and a Farmall H. I still have Nellybelle, the '51 8N that I have been driving since 1953.

  • Thanks to all for the compliments. Iím 65, but my wife says I should have been born 20 years earlier; better late than never! In addition to the implements pictured, I also have a Prior model plow (10-1), Dearborn wagon, cordwood saw, end crane, rear-mounted loader (10-29), post hole digger, scoop, tractor jack, and Ferguson transport box. Thatís enough for our large ďfarmĒ.

  • Nice tractor and implements. Brings back good memories. We had a 100 acre farm and tilled around 70 of it. Used the same implements you have here. I remember the cultivator and 2 row planter.

  • Thanks for sharing. As I look out the window here at the snow it warms me to look at your photos. It is also nice to see the quality soil as I work in soil born from the Canadian Shield. Rocks rocks everywhere!
