  • Water pump gasket
  • Can anyone tell me if my water pump requires a gasket? The replacement pump didnít come with one. Can I use form a gasket instead?

  • FORD TRACTOR part number 9N-8507, available at Dennis Carpenter and Just8Ns. Do you have the essential manuals?

  • The gasket you need between the water pump and the block is 9N-8513

  • It should have a gasket. Form-a-gasket might work very well as this cooling system usually has a 4 PSI radiator cap on it. My personal choice might be looking at either red or gray RTV and installing it. It should be operating well within the temp specs.
If you had a gasket, I would use Gaskit-Cinch between the water pump and the gasket and then a thin layer of RTV between the gasket and the engine block. Easier removal next time around and the RTV takes up the minor imperfections of the metal.
I have also used grease on gaskets to swell them up a bit prior to installation.
That works inexpensively and quite well. A few minutes works very nicely.
However, generally gaskets that have been greased will tear in 1/2 upon removal.
