  • Oil Oressure
  • Reading the last post on Oil level by John in Mich made me think about my NAA oil pressure. I know the manual (and Tim) says I should have 40+ at 1500 rpm. My NAA registers 60 lbs in neutral and 1/4 throttle. (Proofmeter is broken, new one on the way) Can this do any damage because it is too high? Thanks - I'm a relative newbi to taking care of these fords.

    Thanks
    L.J.

  • It was a legitimate question because on some applications too high oil pressure could cause issues such as blown seals.

Now I noticed no one mention that perhaps the pressure release valve could be sticking. There is a pressure release valve; a spring and ball type I think, that when the pressure gets higher than the spring tension it releases the pressure and dumps the oil back to the reservoir.

    No. Not like blood pressure!
