  • That`s Slick!!!
    Thank You!!
My battery sometimes (used to) come aloose, slide a few inches and ground itself to the metal frame when leaning left on a hill...
I fashioned (Dennis Rigged) a better clamp to hold the battery in place...
Yeah I`m 12V with the + close to the frame of the tank/dash etc...
I`ll likely use this, Thanks Again...

    Stay away from that virus,

    Dennis

  • I'm glad that you like it; that it will prove useful to your needs.

Seldom do I like a provisional repair, such like have a habit remaining too long past when a permanent solution could be in place, but this approach buys you some time, and can be left in place once $40+ plus battery cover is installed. Kind of like having a belt, suspenders, elastic waistband with cord ties all at the same time lol ;-)

  • Shouldn't this be applied to the NEGATIVE battery post, as 6v N's were positive ground? In other words, it's the " hot" terminal that needs the insulator from grounding.

If you have a negative ground tractor, as in 99% of all 12v conversions, then the application shown would work as desired.

But you get nothing from applying an insulator to the positive battery post of a positive ground tractor.

  • Good one Bruce!

For 6 volt positive ground systems, you are absolutely correct! :-) In my write-up "How To," should've mentioned was dealing with 12 volt conversion.

Next "How To" write-up I make, think it's a good idea to send prior copy to you, TOH & Tim Daley before submitting to Ntractorclub, just to make sure I haven't goobered-up, nor neglected mentioning something vital. lol

    Thanks! :-)

  • I had the same issue w/ my 29 Fords.

The terminal end of the negative cable attached to the starter is open and bare metal.

Not being as inventive or skilled as you, I got plastic battery cable covers, 4 in a pack, for $6 at Advance Auto
