  • Tractor Question
  • I have an early 1942 9N tractor that was previously owned by my mom's uncle, who was a mechanic as well as a farmer. In the 1970's he overhauled the tractor and replaced the original air cleaner with a non-standard one that had an input tube out the top (he cut a hole in the hood). It is missing the cap, so it filled with rainwater and is now rusted out and filled with crud. Attached are 2 photos. The main body is 13 inches tall, and the mounting hole spacing is 5 1/2 inches. Does anybody know what tractor this was for or where to get a replacement for it?

I hope these picture links work. If not, anyone who thinks they might know, please email me directly at kap10piper@gmail.com. Thanks.

  • Looks an awful lot like this one. If not the same probably close enough to work.

  • Like this? Click on LINK from our MANUALS forum. Early 9N Ford-Ferguson extended air cleaner. You won't find anything new, Ford Tractors is long since out of business and the 9N/2N models were only made from '39 thru end of '46. Used OEM parts pop up on ebay all the time but I've never seen an air cleaner like this on ebay; doesn't mean they haven't been on before. I suggest you get a standard used one off ebay and install. Those I see all the time.

  • That was a dealer installed item to replace the original. I have one on the shelf along with the ball on top. I also have the battery cover tray that I see behind your air cleaner in the tool box. e-mail is open.

  • Hi John

Thanks for the quick response. As you say you have an air cleaner on the shelf, can I assume that means it is for sale? If so, please send me a picture and what it would cost including shipping to California. I definitely need the ball on top. My battery cover is fixable, but if yours is a good price, I am interested in that too.
