  • Hydraulic lift issues 51/52? 8N
  • Hi guys,

Had my 8N a couple years now with no problems. I come to these forums for help and really appreciate it.

So, back to my probable stupidity. The lift selector bracket has been broken since I got the tractor, finally decided to put on a new one as the lever was pretty sloppy. The nut holding on the lever was pretty well rusted on and even though I soaked it with penetrating oil, it took some effort to come off. I believe I probably took it past a limit.
Now, the lift arms only want to go up. I have to shut the tractor off and let the arms go down on their own. I included a picture of the old bracket.
Any idea what I broke?! Ha!
Thanks in advance for anyone's input

  • The control shaft has eccentric on end that passes thru control arm and as shaft is turned by touch control lever, the eccentric causes the control arm to move fore/aft, thus changing position of control valves. Full rotation "might" move control arm more than normal and if far enough, "might" bend control arm. Never tried it, thus the "might". Remove right side round cover to see control arm and see if still straight or bent.

  • Here's you picture. There are adjustments and settings in the I&T FO-4 and Owners manual- get out your essential manuals. If you raise the arms to the top and shut down tractor, they should hold the lift up for weeks, months if cylinder and system is good. If arms drop minutes or day later, system need attention.

  • Thanks, Im more concerned with the arms not going down at all with the selector though. Any idea why that might of all of a sudden happen? I think I spun that lever selector plate 360 degrees. Any pin or anything on that shaft I might of broken? Or spinning it back 360 possibly fix it? Ha!

  • Re: PICTURE
  • You sure you mean 360? That is back where it started.
